ETEL Milano

ETEL Milano

Gallery for Modern & Contemporary Brazilian Design – Milan, Italy.
2017 / completed

Located in Via Maroncelli 13, epicenter of the vibrant “Maroncelli and Brera Design District”, the project is the refurbishment of an old art gallery, new location for the modern and contemporary Brazilian design brand “ETEL”.

The property, of about 150 square meters, is spread over two different levels: the ground floor, with access from Via Maroncelli through two large restored vintage windows in iron and glass, and a mezzanine floor with a very low internal height.

The first choice to revive the location in its originality and to ensure to have into the space as much natural light as possible was to create a very pure space, a “white box” totally painted in white, including the resin floors, and to demolish all the internal partitions and false ceilings, recovering the facades that overlook a wonderful internal courtyard.

The store is home to a new central organic form that ideologically represents the trunk of a tree, the heart of the company, and held through the use of Etel’s wood and which generates a fully open gallery around it.

The exhibition space is also characterized by a rigorous lighting system that contrasts and emphasizes the natural gesture that the central shape draws, hosting inside the ladder that connect to the top mezzanine floor, also covered with a white resin as the other floors.

The final result perfectly hosts the elegant ETEL’s collection, with the numerous contrasts created by the Brazilian woods essences and the precious details, but always maintaining the strong identity of a Milanese gallery.
